' Fractured '
An exploration into fragility, this piece was driven by the process. After the sculptural form was resolved, some additional brass splints were used to support the structure, overtly signally a weakness but also a beauty in its boldness.
The piece utilises a finish for the london plane, which involved a blue dye and scorching. A simple casket design was created, then scorched to corrupt its form, the damaged area taken as a cue for further shaping.
