Black Box

This piece was built to house and display objects of personal significance, to celebrate the tangible artefacts from our lives. In an overly stimulated digital world we can forget the beauty and power of picking up an object that holds a connection to us personally, of spending some quiet minutes reflecting.

Although this piece uses maple from the same tree, the top was selected for characterful knots, the sub frame had the pick of the straighter, cleaner grain for strength and the box was stained black for a strong contrast.  The glass shelves float within the box and the textured copper panel add interets to the interior.

Dimensions -  81 x 44 x 134 cm  high
